Three Things Thursday - Jan. 12

1. I realized this morning, when my apartment complex sent us an email warning about traffic delays, that the 13.1 Los Angeles route goes right through our neighborhood. So my weekend plans now include spectating. Yay! I haven't spectated a race since the Oakland Marathon in 2010, when I entertained runners & embarrassed J with my sign:

Actually, while typing this just now, I had this crazy thought of just registering (there's still room!) and running the race as my long run this weekend. I need to do 12 anyway! But then I checked, and it's $100 to register now. Probably best to just run my 12 on my own.

2. Regarding those "terrible tempos," I decided today that tomorrow, which would be my worst tempo, I'm going to run at a moderate pace and not worry beyond that. It's just not worth it to me right at the moment to stress myself out over the pace. I haven't been training super-hard as it is (my lack of cross-training right now is just embarrassing), and I'm just not at a point where pushing the speed is a priority.

3. After I wrote the first two things, I picked up J from work and went to dinner, where I ran my crazy "maybe I should just run the race" idea past him, and he said "Sure! Do it!" So ... disregard No. 1. I'm running this thing!
