New Year

Happy 2012!

The past year was a full one for me. I moved twice (across town in January, then 375 miles away in October), got a promotion at work, climbed Half Dome, did my first (and second!) triathlon and finally got that sub-2 half I've been chasing. J graduated from college in 2011, which was the impetus for our move to SoCal, so it's been a big year in that respect too, as he begins building his new career.

I expect 2012 to be just as exciting and memorable, starting with the fact that I will turn 30 this month! Over the past few days, I've been putting together a list of goals for 2012. I did the same last year, and it was so fun to cross goals off the list (including much of what I listed above) as the year progressed. Here are a few of them, both running related and not:
  • Read 15 books, including two in Spanish (25 books was a goal in 2011. I fell short, and decided I need to cut back the goal, especially since I no longer commute by train, so my reading time has been reduced.)
  • Blog twice a week (hold me to this!)
  • Run a full marathon (I think it's finally time! I'm looking at fall races ... maybe Marine Corps? Or Portland?)
  • Do an Olympic-distance triathlon
  • PR in a 5k (my current PR is from the last 5k I ran, back in 2009, so it's high time.)
There are a few others, which I may write about later, but for now I'll leave it at that.

And now I'm off to ring in the new year with a run!
